It is no secret that driver fatigue and tailgating continue to be contributing factors in many collisions. While each type of negligence is dangerous enough on its own, when combined, the two could prove a recipe for disaster. Reports indicate that both tailgating and fatigue played a role in a recent truck accident that claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman in Georgia.

Truck driver fatigue

Reports indicate that authorities responded to the scene of the crash on a recent Monday evening. The incident is said to have occurred as a car and a truck were traveling in northbound lanes. Authorities say the driver of the car had stopped for a traffic light when the truck suddenly rear-ended her vehicle. The impact of the crash forced the car to become lodged underneath the truck’s front end.

Authorities have advised that the driver of the car was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She reportedly passed away at the facility several days later. Authorities have also advised that the driver of the truck had fallen asleep behind the wheel shortly before causing the crash to occur and state that he has been charged with homicide by vehicle and tailgating.
