For responsible motorcyclists, the most dangerous part of riding is other drivers. When a careless motorist causes a crash that claims the life of a motorcyclist, there are ways that families can pursue justice.

According to an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, motorcyclist Samuel Jeter was killed in the morning rush hour on Monday, March 28 when a car turned in front of him on Moreland Avenue in DeKalb county. “Investigators believe a driver turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing the bike to crash and killing its rider,” the article reports.

Police said that charges are pending against the driver of the car, but even if the driver is convicted of a crime, the criminal justice system cannot do anything to unburden a family struggling with a tragic loss. However, in the civil justice system, a family can pursue a claim against the at-fault driver and their insurance and potentially secure compensation. No amount of money can compensate for the loss of a loved one, but it can help a family rebuild in the wake of a tragedy.
